About Sara Jane
Sara Jane Parsons, mouth painter, watercolorist, resides in Austin,Texas with her partner, and their dog and cat. Largely self-taught, she began painting in watercolor as a creative outlet after becoming quadriplegic due to a car accident. When asked if it’s difficult to paint as she does, holding the brush in her mouth, her standard reply is, “I don’t know. I’ve never done it any other way!” Sara Jane’s work hasbeen recognized locally, nationally, and internationally. She paints florals, figurative work, portraits, and landscapes. Sara Jane describes her work as “Contemporary Realism.” She is a member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (www.mfpausa.com), the American Watercolor Society, and the Waterloo Watercolor Society.

“I feel like by becoming an artist it’s helped me to become who I am. And it’s helped me to accept my body. Not that I didn’t love my body, but going to figure drawing and drawing every type of persons body was such a powerful thing for me. To realize that every body really truly is beautiful.”
